04.16.11 01:27 AM

The 17th Annual Hootie & The Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am finished with an incredible ending on Monday afternoon. The tournament went into a sudden death chip-off with PGA player Kyle Thompson and former major league pitcher Jared Wright breaking a three way tie to claim the victory at The Dye Club at Barefoot Resort & Golf.

The winning team had an amazing finish and rounded out at 19-under par; their round included three eagles on one of the most challenging SC Myrtle Beach Golf Courses.

Other teams that finished with 19-under par included PGA Tour player and SC native Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey and the country singer Colt Ford, and the team comprised of PGA Tour player Ken Duke and former NFL wide receiver Sterling Sharpe. The team of Jim Furyk and Darius Rucker finished at just 14-under par. The format for the Monday After the Masters Tournament featured a six-person Captain’s Choice composed of a touring professional, celebrities, and special VIPs.

The tournament was kicked off Sunday night with a fun Live Auction and Pairings Party hosted at the House of Blues.  The live auction raises money each year for the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation which works to support the South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation and educational needs of children growing up in South Carolina. ESPN radio did a broadcast from the "Mike & Mike" show from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at The Dye Club which was also simulcast on ESPN2.

This year marked the 6th year in a row that the tournament was completely sold out; an amazing crowd of 6,000 fans packed The Dye Club to watch their fav athletes, musicians and celebs. This year there were more celebs and VIPs that participated than any of the previous tournaments.  Headliners at the Monday After the Masters Tournamant SC were PGA TOUR players Jim Furyk, John Daly, Chris DiMarco, Brian Gay and Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey; Miami Dolphins quarterback Tyler Thigpen;  wrestling legend Ric Flair; former Chicago Bears quarterback and Super Bowl champion Jim McMahon; former heavyweight boxing champion James "Bonecrusher" Smith; NASCAR drivers Kyle Petty and Michael Waltrip; LPGA golfer and Myrtle Beach area native Kristy McPherson; and the Weather Channel's Jim Cantore.  Celebrity musical artists including country singers Colt Ford, Jack Ingram, Josh Kelley and Johnny Lee showed up as well as rock performer Edwin McCain; Andrew Copeland of sister Hazel; Shawn Stockman and Nate Morris from Boys II Men; and Scott Phillips from Alter Bridge all played.  Actors such as Tom Berenger, Alfonso Ribeiro and former NFL player Sterling Sharpe all competed as well as Major League Baseball stars Mickey Tettleton and Chuck Finley.

The PGA Tour was represented by prestigious players such as Blake Adams; Mark Anderson; Woody Austin; Matt Bettencourt; Tommy Biershenk; Kris Blanks; Scott Brown; Ken Duke; Bill Kisner; Billy Kratzert; Mark Lye; David Mathis; William McGirt; David Mobley; Carl Paulson; Larry Rinker; Charlie Rymer; Scott Stallings; Darron Stiles; Josh Teater; Kyle Thompson; and DJ Trahan.

Next year's Monday After the Masters Hootie and The Blowfish tournament is scheduled for April 9, 2012 at the same course at The Barefoot Resort Myrtle Beach SC.
