Hooters NGA Winter Series to take Place in the Carolinas
11.4.09 10:16 AM

The Grand Strand - Popular restaurant chain Hooters plans to kick off the Winter Series of its NGA Hooters Pro Golf Tour on South Carolina’s Grand Strand. Starting on November 1, 2009 at Aberdeen Country Club in Longs, SC, this twelve-event tournament will run through early February.

The Winter Series will feature tournaments in both North Carolina and South Carolina. It is similar to the original Carolina Series except that players will play 54 holes instead of 72, and they will ride in golf carts instead of walking.

The Grand Strand is a wonderful place to play golf all year long. The mild temperatures along the coastline are perfect for a game or just brisk stroll along the links.

Some of the noteworthy stops along the tour include courses in North Myrtle Beach SC and Calabash NC. Crow Creek in Calabash NC is a scenic course designed by Rick Robbins, previously a Jack Nicklaus design associate. Minutes from Myrtle Beach SC, it has become a “must-play” course since its opening in 2001.

Designed by Ken Tomlinson, Tidewater Golf Club in Myrtle Beach SC boasts ocean views and breathtaking scenery while delivering a challenging course to players. Devoid of any artificial elements at the architect’s insistence, the beautiful marshes and range of elevations makes Tidewater Golf Club one of the most unique places on the Strand.

Also close to Myrtle Beach SC, River Hills Golf & Country Club in historic Little River NC, is known for its rolling hills and exceptional staff. The wooded hills and proximity to the quaint seaside village of Little River make a trip to River Hills Golf & Country Club well worthwhile.

With many great locations, the Hooters Winter Series is something golf lovers of all ages won’t want to miss. This 54-hole event with a 36-hole cut is a must-see event for anyone who enjoys golf and wants to experience the natural beauty of the Carolinas.
