Myrtle Beach Chapter of the American Singles Golf Association Finds a Home
04.20.10 01:38 PM

It's springtime in Myrtle Beach and it really doesn't get any better than that! Legends Golf Resort Myrtle Beach was recently named the home base resort for the Myrtle Beach Chapter of the American Singles Golf Association, which prompted us to want to find out more about the American Singles Golf Association and what they provide and stand for.

The American Singles Golf Association has 70+ chapters across the United States and consists of member golfers that really do enjoy golf, are over the age of 21, and are single (i.e. never been married, divorced, widowed, or legally separated). Each chapter of the American Singles Golf Association meets once a month for a chapter meeting, which is almost always held in the second or third week of the month. During these weeknight monthly meetings, singles mingle and meet other singles and get social by planning golf outings, special golf vacations, and of course, fun cookouts and wine tastings. Meetings are fun and informal and club members are always encouraged to bring a golf loving friend or newbie. At some meetings, chapters will also bring in golf professionals and others who happily share golf tips and tricks and other advice on how to improve your game.

If you’re single, love golf, and are looking for great ways to meet others in your area, check out the local chapter of the American Singles Golf Association and look into becoming a member. Of course, the purpose of gathering is for golf, but the end result is often meeting some great, special friends—and improving your shot and swing isn't so bad either! Singles golf is all about having fun, enjoying each other’s fellowship, and getting out on the fairways at every opportunity you can. Each chapter has the usual appointments, including a Chapter President, Four Committee Heads, a Secretary, and a Treasurer.

The Myrtle Beach chapter has about 55 members and will now host its monthly meetings, socials, and most of its semi-monthly golf outings at Legends Golf Resort Myrtle Beach. Meetings for the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand chapter take place on the third Wednesday of each month and start at 7 p.m. During these meetings the group usually gets tips and advice from Legends PGA professional staff. Oftentimes, members and others gather before the meeting at Legends Golf Resort, a Myrtle Beach SC Golf Resort, to enjoy nine holes and cocktails and dinner around 5:30 p.m. Memberships for the Grand Strand Myrtle Beach chapter are $70 per year to join, and the weekend outings that take place twice a month are usually $39 or $42 each, depending on your age.

After years of floating from a local Logan's Roadhouse, to a Holiday Inn and on to various courses, the Myrtle Beach chapter of the ASGA was delighted to find a home club at Legends Golf Myrtle Beach. Legends Golf Club Myrtle Beach is home to three fantastic Golf Courses Myrtle Beach South Carolina: Heathland, Moorland, and Parkland. Also, two other Myrtle Beach Golf Courses are found within the Legends SC Golf Resort: Heritage and Oyster Bay Golf Links. The Heathland Legends Golf Course Myrtle Beach was designed by Tom Doak and reflects the same type of look and feel as the courses found along the British Isles. The Parkland Legends Myrtle Beach Golf Course incorporated elements from other courses such as the Augusta National course into its design, and the challenging Moorland Legends Myrtle Beach SC Golf Course, designed by P.B. Dye will challenge every aspect of your game.

Members live as far away as Sunset Beach NC and Pawley's Island SC and travel to the Grand Strand to take part in this wonderful experience. Numerous members have remarked that they were looking for something fun to enjoy as a hobby and meet new people in the area as well, and this satisfied all of their needs and more. Most of the members range in age from 50 to 70; anyone over 21 is welcome to join. Members of the Grand Strand chapter are gearing up for the National reunion Memorial Day weekend at Pinehurst NC Golf Resort and upcoming international Golf Vacation trip to Scotland in August.
