The Furman University Golf Club closed May 12, 2008, for a major renovation of all 18 green sites, bunkers, and six new tee boxes. The course re-opened October 1, 2008 to high praise. The South Caroloina Golf Association has recently rated the course in its Top 30 You Can Play list. The club surpassed 400+ other course for this honor. The new design is a Donald Ross style that will follow the flow of the beautiful land that the golf course lays on. The renovation produced a first-class course that lends itself to be very fair and playable for the average golfer, but challenging for the low handicapper.
